The architect was Viggo Klein.
The observation tower is designed as a 26 metre high beer bottle from Tuborg and was originally equipped with Denmark’s first lift that could bring visitors to the top. The lift has since been replaced with staircase, like the original exterior of the canvas are replaced by fiberglass. After the exhibition it was moved to the Beach Road/Strandvejen in Hellerup, where it still stands. In connection with its 100 anniversary it stood briefly at the Town Hall Square in 1988.
There was talk of conserving Ølflasken in 2003, but the special Building Authority has decided that it does not have the architectural or cultural-historical values, justifying a conservation, among others. because there have been too many changes compared to the original bottle.
Gentofte Municipality sees the bottle as absolutely historic, and according to the local plan for the area must bottle not demolished, converted or otherwise changed without municipal Board’s permission.
