Uniscrap A/s was founded in 1858 by Petersen & Albeck A/S and merged in 1978
with Joseph Levin & Co A/S, founded in 1866.
These two companies had been dealing with the recycling of many types of waste for generations, and in the merger they created a large Danish company with branches across the country.

The concept was recovery of primarily iron and metal scrap and paper recycling.
With an aim of being established in all major Danish cities, Unsicrap grew through acquisitions of several companies, and thus developed into one of Denmark’s largest players in recycling.
In 1993, Uniscrap made the largest single investment, as the company built a shredder plant in Kolding, which in 2007 was replaced by an even larger plant on the new junkyard in Grenaa. The plant in Grenaa is now divested since Unsicrap A/S has chosen to focus on another technological platform that better meets the market’s wishes.
