A 46-year-old man from West Jutland was convicted on Monday in the court in Randers for transporting over 3.5 million cigarettes that were smuggled into Denmark, and for attempting to transport a further three million cigarettes.
The punishment was in prison for a year and nine months and a fine of three million kroner.
The 46-year-old was arrested on 13 March this year, when special investigation West struck in a coordinated action against several addresses in Jutland and arrested a total of six people who are charged with having been part of the case. On the same day, the police seized three million cigarettes in Poland, and two Polish citizens were arrested.
