Atlas Survival Shelters, interesting catalog they have for certain. Everyone should have a basic little nook as a contingency.

I agree. One step at a time and I will have one, one day 🙂

The same goes for me. I wish, that we was as far ahead as you are over there. I think, that it is pretty much only government and something like banks that have “bunkers” here.

Yes, Federal institutions & some powerful private factions are usually the types with such contingencies in place, this would be something I’d like to invest for long-term and then quietly leave it in the background.

Whilst Atlas does make modular bunkers commercially they don’t have a monopoly on it either some have chosen the improvised route and even utilized structurally reinforced freight containers & fuel tanks as makeshift bunkers, I personally would like one with an air-filtration & purge system in place, maybe underground access to well-water (if possible).

Akin to what to steel reinforced concrete bunkers with gasket sealed doors, air-system which prevents gasses from infiltrating or accumulating from within & accessible water supply. Then again it would require a sizeable extension to my present treasury (which I do not have), one thing at a time I suppose.

Yes, maybe modify a basement step by step is the answer.

Steel reinforced concrete, should be relative easy.

Gasket sealed doors, will properly be costly. Small overpressure like an armoured vehicle/tank might work, if air-system is in order, etc.

Water supply, I see a few options, some houses have or can get well-water.

Air-System Clarification, this is not just a basic circulation and temperature control system but mainly an air-filtration & cycle purge system.

        1. Filtration/Blockage or harmful foreign substances, pollutants, weaponized gasses.

        2. Purge of internalized toxic emissions i.e. carbon-monoxide fumes, or otherwise purge/exchange of hot to cold air in bunker.

Sorry, I know. I just didn’t have anything to write about it.

“Small overpressure like an armoured vehicle/tank might work, if air-system is in order, etc.”

Part of the blockage in for example a Leopard 2 is a small overpressure inside the tank. That might work in a bunker, too. So if there are any small holes, air will come out instead of in. It might only be better than nothing, I am just guessing here.
