Are Scandinavian people a different race?

From Wikipedia, so take it with a grain of salt.

Nordicism is an ideology of racial separatism which views the Nordic race as a superior and sometimes as an endangered racial group. Notably seminal Nordicist works include Madison Grant‘s book The Passing of the Great Race (1916), Arthur de Gobineau‘s An Essay on the Inequality of the Human Races (1853), and Houston Stewart Chamberlain‘s The Foundations of the Nineteenth Century (1899). The ideology became popular in the late-19th and early-20th centuries in NorthwesternCentral, and Northern European countries as well as in North America and Australia.

The idea of a Nordic phenotype being superior to others was originally embraced as “Teutonicism” in Germany, “Anglo-Saxonism” in England and the United States, and “Frankisism” in Northern France. The notion of the superiority of the “Nordic race” and of the Northwestern European nations that were associated with this supposed race influenced the United States’ Immigration Act of 1924 (which effectively banned or severely limited the immigration of ItaliansJews, and other Southern and Eastern Europeans) and the later Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952, and it was also present in other countries outside Northwestern Europe such as AustraliaCanada, and South Africa. By the 1930s, the NSDAP claimed that the Nordic race was the most superior branch of the “Aryan race” and constituted a master race (Herrenvolk).

In the mid-19th century, scientific racism developed the theory of Aryanism, holding that Europeans (“Aryans”) were an innately superior branch of humanity, responsible for most of its greatest achievements. Aryanism was derived from the idea that the original speakers of the Indo-European languages constituted a distinctive race or subrace of the larger Caucasian race.

Its principal proponent was Arthur de Gobineau in his Essay on the Inequality of the Human Races (1855). Though Gobineau did not equate Nordic people with Aryans, he argued that Germanic people were the best modern representatives of the Aryan race. Adapting the comments of Tacitus and other Roman writers, he argued that “pure” Northerners regenerated Europe after the Roman Empire declined due to racial “dilution” of its leadership.

This distinction was repeated by Charles Morris in his book The Aryan Race (1888), which argued that the original Aryans could be identified by their blond hair and other Nordic features, such as dolichocephaly (long skull). The argument was given extra impetus by the French anthropologist Vacher de Lapouge in his book L’Aryen, in which he argued that the “dolichocephalic-blond” people were natural leaders, destined to rule over more brachycephalic (short-skulled) people.

The philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche also referred in his writings to “blond beasts”: amoral adventurers who were supposed to be the progenitors of creative cultures. In On the Genealogy of Morals (1887), he wrote, “In Latin malus … could indicate the vulgar man as the dark one, especially as the black-haired one, as the pre-Aryan dweller of the Italian soil which distinguished itself most clearly through his colour from the blonds who became their masters, namely the Aryan conquering race.”

By the early 20th century the concept of a “masterly” Nordic race had become familiar enough that the British psychologist William McDougall, writing in 1920, stated:

Among all the disputes and uncertainties of the ethnographers about the races of Europe, one fact stands out clearly—namely, that we can distinguish a race of northerly distribution and origin, characterised physically by fair colour of hair and skin and eyes, by tall stature and dolichocephaly (i.e. long shape of head), and mentally by great independence of character, individual initiative and tenacity of will. Many names have been used to denote this type, … . It is also called the Nordic type.

In the United States

[C]onservation of that race which has given us the true spirit of Americanism is not a matter of either racial pride or of racial prejudice; it is a matter of love of country, of a true sentiment which is based upon knowledge and the lessons of history rather than upon the sentimentalism which is fostered by ignorance. If I were asked: What is the greatest danger which threatens the American republic to-day? I would certainly reply: The gradual dying out among our people of those hereditary traits through which the principles of our religious, political and social foundations were laid down and their insidious replacement by traits of less noble character.

— Henry Fairfield Osborn, July 13, 1916

In the United States, the primary spokesman for Nordicism was the eugenicist Madison Grant. His 1916 book, The Passing of the Great Race, or the Racial Basis of European History about Nordicism was highly influential among racial thinking and government policy making.

Grant used the theory as justification for immigration policies of the 1920s, arguing that the immigrants from certain areas of Europe, such as Italians and other Southern Europeans and Eastern Europeans, represented a lesser type of European and their numbers in the United States should not be increased. Grant and others urged this as well as the complete restriction of non-Europeans, such as the Chinese and Japanese.

Grant argued the Nordic race had been responsible for most of humanity’s great achievements (he lists DanteRaphaelTitianMichelangelo, and Leonardo da Vinci as examples of Nordics). Admixture was “race suicide” and unless eugenic policies were enacted, the Nordic race would be supplanted by inferior races. Future president Calvin Coolidge agreed, stating “Biological laws tell us that certain divergent people will not mix or blend. The Nordics propagate themselves successfully. With other races, the outcome shows deterioration on both sides.” Grant argues that Nordics founded the United States and the English “language”, and formed the ruling classes of ancient Greece and Rome. An analysis performed by Grant alleges that Northwestern Europeans are less criminal than Southern and Eastern Europeans (see also Race and crime).

The Immigration Act of 1924 was signed into law by President Coolidge. This was designed to reduce the number of immigrants from Southern Europe, Southeast Europe, Eastern Europe and Russia, exclude Asian immigrants altogether, and favour immigration from Great BritainIrelandGermany and Scandinavia, while also permitting immigration from Latin America.

The spread of these ideas also affected popular culture. F. Scott Fitzgerald invokes Grant’s ideas through a character in part of The Great Gatsby, and Hilaire Belloc jokingly rhapsodized the “Nordic man” in a poem and essay in which he satirised the stereotypes of Nordics, Alpines and Mediterraneans.

Nordicist thought in Germany

Hans F. K. Günther (1891–1968), prominent German racial theorist who helped to popularise Nordicism in his country.

In Germany the influence of Nordicism remained powerful. There it was known under the term “Nordischer Gedanke” (Nordic thought).

This phrase was coined by the German eugenicists Erwin BaurEugen Fischer and Fritz Lenz. It appeared in their 1921 work Human Heredity, which insisted on the innate superiority of the Nordic race.

Adapting the arguments of Arthur Schopenhauer and others to Darwinian theory, they argued that the qualities of initiative and will-power identified by earlier writers had arisen from natural selection, because of the tough landscape in which Nordic peoples evolved. This had ensured that weaker individuals had not survived.

This argument was derived from earlier eugenicist and Social Darwinist ideas. According to the authors, the Nordic race arose in the ice age, from:

quite a small group which, under stress of rapidly changing conditions (climate, beasts of the chase) was exposed to exceptionally rigorous selection and was persistently inbred, thus acquiring the peculiar characteristics which persist today as the exclusive heritage of the Nordic race … Philological, archaeological and anthropological researches combine to indicate that the primal home of the Indo-Germanic [i.e. Aryan] languages must have been in Northern Europe.

Adolf Hitler read Human Heredity shortly before he wrote Mein Kampf, and called it scientific proof of the racial basis of civilisation. Its arguments were also repeated by the NSDAP  ideologist Alfred Rosenberg, in his book The Myth of the Twentieth Century (1930).

NSDAP racial theories held the Atlanteans to be a race of Nordic supermen, and Alfred Rosenberg wrote of a “Nordic-Atlantean” master race whose civilisation was lost through inward corruption and betrayal. According to Rosenberg, the Nordic race had evolved in a now-lost landmass off the coast of Europe, perhaps mythical Atlantis, migrated through northern Europe and expanded further south to Iran and India where it founded the Aryan cultures of Zoroastrianism and Hinduism. Like Grant and others, he argued that the entrepreneurial energy of the Nordics had “degenerated” when they mixed with “inferior” peoples.

With the rise of Hitler, Nordic theory became the norm within German culture. In some cases the “Nordic” concept became an almost abstract ideal rather than a mere racial category. For example, Hermann Gauch wrote in 1933 (in a book which was banned in the Third Reich) that the fact that “birds can be taught to talk better than other animals is explained by the fact that their mouths are Nordic in structure.” He further claimed that in humans, “the shape of the Nordic gum allows a superior movement of the tongue, which is the reason why Nordic talking and singing are richer.”

Such views were extreme, but more mainstream Nordic theory was institutionalised. Hans F. K. Günther, who joined the NSDAP Party in 1932, was praised as a pioneer in racial thinking, a shining light of Nordic theory. Most official NSDAP comments on the Nordic Race were based on Günther’s works, and Alfred Rosenberg presented Günther with a medal for his work in anthropology.

Robert Ley, the head of the German Labour Front and of the NSDAP Party organisation, stated in 1935 concerning racial purity and the Nordic race:

Who of us is racially pure? Even if somebody’s appearance is Nordic he might be a bastard inside. That somebody is blond and blue-eyed does not mean that he is racially pure. He might even be a degenerate coward. Bastardization shows in different aspects. We have to be on our guard against racial arrogance. Racial arrogance would be as devastating as hatred among classes.

Eugen Fischer and Fritz Lenz were also appointed to senior positions overseeing the policy of Racial Hygiene. Madison Grant’s book was the first non-German book to be translated and published by the NSDAP Reich press, and Grant proudly displayed to his friends a letter from Hitler claiming that the book was “his Bible.”

The NSDAP state used such ideas about the differences between European races as part of their various discriminatory and coercive policies which culminated in the “Holocaust”. Ironically, in Grant’s first edition of his popular book, he classified the Germans as being primarily Nordic, but in his second edition, published after the USA had entered World War I, he had re-classified the now enemy power as being dominated by “inferior” Alpines.

Günther’s work agreed with Grant’s, and the German anthropologist frequently stated that the Germans are not a fully Nordic people. Hitler himself was later to downplay the importance of Nordicism in public for this very reason. The standard tripartite model placed most of the population of Hitler’s Germany in the Alpine category, especially after the Anschluss.

J. Kaup led a movement opposed to Günther. Kaup took the view that a German nation, all of whose citizens belonged to a “German race” in a populationist sense, offered a more convenient sociotechnical tool than Günther’s concept of an ideal Nordic type to which only a very few Germans could belong.

NSDAP legislation identifying the ethnic and “racial” affinities of the Jews reflects the populationist concept of race. Discrimination was not restricted to Jews who belonged to the “Oriental-Armenoid” race, but was directed against all members of the Jewish ethnic population.

The German Jewish journalist Kurt Caro (1905–1979) who emigrated to Paris in 1933 and served in the British Army from 1943, published a book under the pseudonym Manuel Humbert claiming to unmask Hitler’s “Mein Kampf” in which he stated the following racial composition of the Jewish population of Central Europe: 23,8% Lapponid race, 21,5% Nordic race, 20,3% Armenoid race, 18,4% Mediterranean race, 16,0% Oriental race.

By 1939 Hitler had abandoned Nordicist rhetoric in favour of the idea that the German people as a whole were united by distinct “spiritual” qualities. Nevertheless, NSDAP  eugenics policies continued to favour Nordics over Alpines and other racial groups, particularly during the war when decisions were being made about the incorporation of conquered peoples into the Reich.

In 1942 Hitler stated in private,

I shall have no peace of mind until I have planted a seed of Nordic blood wherever the population stand in need of regeneration. If at the time of the migrations, while the great racial currents were exercising their influence, our people received so varied a share of attributes, these latter blossomed to their full value only because of the presence of the Nordic racial nucleus.

In his “table talk”, Hitler described how the presence of German and English soldiers in the combat areas he served in during World War I had, in his view, improved the quality of the young people he saw there in 1940, in a “Nordicizing process, the results of which are today [according to Hitler] incontestable.” He also said he observed the same process at work in the area of his mountain home near Berchtesgaden, which he described as having, when he first came there, a mongrel population, the quality of which was much improved by the presence of his SS Bodyguard Regiment, which was responsible for “the numbers of strong and healthy children running around the area.” Hitler went on to say that “[This] shows that elite troops should really be sent wherever the composition of the people is poor, in order to improve it.” Indeed, Hitler and Himmler planned to use the SS – a racial elite chosen on the basis of “pure” Nordic qualities – as the basis for the racial “regeneration” of Europe following the final victory of NSDAP.

Addressing officers of the SS-Leibstandarte “Adolf Hitler” Himmler stated:

The ultimate aim for those 11 years during which I have been the Reichsfuehrer SS has been invariably the same: to create an order of good blood which is able to serve Germany; which unfailingly and without sparing itself can be made use of because the greatest losses can do no harm to the vitality of this order, the vitality of these men, because they will always be replaced; to create an order which will spread the idea of Nordic blood so far that we will attract all Nordic blood in the world, take away the blood from our adversaries, absorb it so that never again, looking at it from the viewpoint of grand policy, Nordic blood, in great quantities and to an extent worth mentioning, will fight against us.

Nordicist thought in Italy

In Italy, the influence of Nordicism had a divisive effect in which the influence resulted in Northern Italians who regarded themselves to have Nordic racial heritage considered themselves a civilised people while negatively regarding Southern Italians as non-Nordic and therefore biologically inferior. Nordicism was controversial in Italy because of common Nordicist perceptions of Mediterranean people, and especially southern Italians, being racially degenerate. The distinction between a superior northern Italy and a degenerate and an inferior southern Italy was promoted by the Neapolitan Carlo Formichi, the Vice-President of the Italian Academy, who in 1921 said that Italy needed “a great revolution …, a return to the genius of the noble Aryan race, which is after all our race, but that has been overcome by the Semitic civilisation and mentality”. At least some of the stereotypes about Southern Italians were created by Cesare Lombroso, an Italian Jewish criminologist and anthropologist of Sephardic descent. For his controversial theories, Lombroso was expelled from the Italian Society of Anthropology and Ethnology in 1882. The Lombrosian doctrine is currently considered pseudoscientific.

Fascist Nordicism

Benito Mussolini. Mussolini was initially a strong proponent of Mediterraneanism; however with the rise in influence of pro-Nordicist NSDAP, Mussolini promoted Aryanism and recognised Italians as having Nordic-Mediterranean heritage.

Italian Fascism‘s stance towards Nordicism changed from being initially hostile to being favourable.

Italian Fascism strongly rejected the common Nordicist conception of the Aryan race that idealised “pure” Aryans as having certain physical traits that were defined as Nordic such as fair skin, blond hair and light eyes. The antipathy by Mussolini and other Italian Fascists to Nordicism was over the existence of what they viewed as the Mediterranean inferiority complex that they claimed had been instilled into Mediterraneans by the propagation of such theories by German and British Nordicists who viewed Mediterranean peoples as racially degenerate and thus in their view inferior. However traditional Nordicist claims of Mediterraneans being degenerate due to having a darker colour of skin than Nordics had long been rebuked in anthropology through the depigmentation theory that claimed that lighter skinned peoples had been dipigmented from a darker skin. This theory has since become a widely accepted view in anthropology. Anthropologist Carleton S. Coon in his work The races of Europe (1939) subscribed to depigmentation theory that claimed that Nordic race’s light-coloured skin was the result of depigmentation from their ancestors of the Mediterranean race. Mussolini refused to allow Italy to return again to this inferiority complex, initially rejecting Nordicism.

In the early 1930s, with the rise to power of the NSDAP Party in Germany with Hitler’s emphasis on a Nordicist conception of the Aryan race, strong tensions arose between the Fascists and the NSDAP over racial issues. In 1934, in the aftermath of Austrian “Nazis” killing Austrian Chancellor Engelbert Dollfuss, an ally of Italy, Mussolini became enraged and responded by angrily denouncing “Nazism”. Mussolini rebuked “Nazism’s” Nordicism, claiming that the “Nazis” emphasizing of a common Nordic “Germanic race” was absurd, saying “a Germanic race does not exist. … We repeat. Does not exist. Scientists say so. Hitler says so.” That Germans were not purely Nordic was indeed acknowledged by “Nazi” racial theorist Hans F. K. Günther in his book Rassenkunde des deutschen Volkes (1922) (“Racial Science of the German People”), where Günther recognized Germans as being composed of five Aryan subtype races: Nordic, Mediterranean, DinaricAlpine and East Baltic while asserting that the Nordics were the highest in a racial hierarchy of the five subtypes.

By 1936, the tensions between Fascist Italy and NSDAP Germany reduced and relations became more amicable. In 1936, Mussolini decided to launch a racial programme in Italy, and was interested in the racial studies being conducted by Giulio Cogni. Cogni was a Nordicist but did not equate Nordic identity with Germanic identity as was commonly done by German Nordicists. Cogni had travelled to Germany where he had become impressed by NSDAP racial theory and sought to create his own version of racial theory. On 11 September 1936, Cogni sent Mussolini a copy of his newly published book Il Razzismo (1936). Cogni declared the racial affinity of the Mediterranean and Nordic racial subtypes of the Aryan race and claimed that the intermixing of Nordic Aryans and Mediterranean Aryans in Italy produced a superior synthesis of Aryan Italians. Cogni addressed the issue of racial differences between northern and southern Italians, declaring southern Italians were mixed between Aryan and non-Aryan races, that he claimed was most likely due to infiltration by Asiatic peoples in Roman times and later Arab invasions. As such, Cogni viewed Southern Italian Mediterraneans as being polluted with orientalizing tendencies. He would later change his idea and claim that Nordics and Southern Italians were closely related groups both racially and spiritually. His opinion was that they were generally responsible for what is the best in European civilization. Initially Mussolini was not impressed with Cogni’s work, however Cogni’s ideas entered into the official Fascist racial policy several years later.

In 1938 Mussolini was concerned that if Italian Fascism did not recognise Nordic heritage within Italians, that the Mediterranean inferiority complex would return to Italian society. Therefore, in summer 1938, the Fascist government officially recognised Italians as having Nordic heritage and being of Nordic-Mediterranean descent and in a meeting with PNF members, and in June 1938 in a meeting with PNF members, Mussolini identified himself as Nordic and declared that previous policy of focus on Mediterraneanism was to be replaced by a focus on Aryanism. Mussolini in July 1938 declared that Italians had strong Nordic heritage particularly through the heritage of the Germanic tribe of the Lombards who conquered Italy after the collapse of the Roman Empire and claimed that the intermixing of Mediterranean Romans with the Nordic Lombards was the last significant racial mixing that occurred in Italy and that none had occurred since.

White people is a racial classification specifier, used mostly and often exclusively for people of European descent. The term has at times been expanded to encompass certain persons of Middle Eastern, North African, and South Asian descent, persons who are often considered non-white in other contexts. The usage of “white people” or a “white race” for a large group of mainly or exclusively European populations, defined by their light skin among other characteristics and contrasting with “black people“, Amerindians, and other “colored” people or “persons of color” originated in the 17th century. It was only during the 19th century that this vague category was transformed in a quasi-scientific system of race and skin color relations. The term “Caucasian” is sometimes used as a synonym for “white” in its racial sense, and sometimes to refer to a larger racial category that includes white people among other groups.

The concept of a unified white race did not achieve universal acceptance in Europe when it first came into use in the 17th century, or in the centuries afterwards. The strongest proponents of racialism in 20th century Europe, Fascist Italy and Nazi Germany, regarded some European peoples such as Slavs as racially distinct from themselves. Prior to the modern age, no European peoples regarded themselves as “white,” but rather defined their race, ancestry, or ethnicity in terms of their nationality (Greek, Roman, etc.). Moreover, there is no accepted standard for determining the geographic barrier between white and non-white people. Contemporary anthropologists and other scientists, while recognizing the reality of biological variation between different human populations, regard the concept of a “white race” as socially constructed.

The concept of whiteness has particular resonance in racially diverse countries with large majority or minority populations of more or less mixed European ancestry: e.g., in the United States (White Americans), Canada (White Canadians), Australia (White Australians), New Zealand (White New Zealanders), the United Kingdom (White British), Brazil (White Brazilians), and South Africa (White South Africans). In much of the rest of Europe, the distinction between race and nationality is more blurred; when people are asked to describe their race or ancestry, they tend to describe it in terms of their nationality, not as “white” but as Polish, Hungarian, Russian and so on. Various social constructions of whiteness have been significant to national identity, public policyreligionpopulation statisticsracial segregationaffirmative actionwhite privilegeeugenics, racial marginalization and racial quotas.

The term “white race” or “white people” entered the major European languages in the later 17th century, in the context of racialized slavery and unequal social status in the European colonies. Description of populations as “white” in reference to their skin color predates this notion and is occasionally found in Greco-Roman ethnography and other ancient or medieval sources; but these societies did not have any notion of a white, pan-European race. Scholarship on race distinguishes the modern concept from pre-modern descriptions, which focused on physical complexion rather than race.

About Germanic Languages

The indigenous peoples of Europe are the focus of European ethnology, the field of anthropology related to the various indigenous groups that reside in the nations of Europe. According to German monograph Minderheitenrechte in Europa co-edited by Pan and Pfeil (2002) there are 87 distinct peoples of Europe, of which 33 form the majority population in at least one sovereign state, while the remaining 54 constitute ethnic minorities. The total number of national or linguistic minority populations in Europe is estimated at 105 million people, or 14% of 770 million Europeans.

There is some precise or universally accepted definition of the terms “ethnic group” or “nationality”. In the context of European ethnography in particular, the terms ethnic grouppeoplenationality or ethno-linguistic group, are used as mostly synonymous, although preference may vary in usage with respect to the situation specific to the individual countries of Europe.

There are eight European ethno-linguistic groups with more than 30 million members residing in Europe. These eight groups between themselves account for some 465 million or about 65% of European population:

  1. Russia Belarus Russians (c. 99 million residing in Europe),
  2. Germany AustriaSwitzerlandGermans (c. 93 million),
  3. FranceBelgiumSwitzerland French (c. 75 million),
  4. United Kingdom British (c. 66 million),
  5. Italy Italians (c. 60 million),
  6. Ukraine Ukrainians (38–55 million),
  7. Spain Spanish (41–50 million),
  8. Poland Polish (38–45 million).

Smaller ethno-linguistic groups with more than 10 million people residing in Europe include:

  1. Romania Romanians (20–25 million),
  2. NetherlandsBelgium Dutch (15–25 millon),
  3. Turkey Turks (10–20 million in Europe),
  4. Portugal Portuguese (10–15 million),
  5. Sweden Swedes (10–15 million),
  6. Greece Greeks (10–15 million),
  7. Serbia Serbs (c. 12 million),
  8. Czech Republic Czechs (c. 10 million),
  9. Hungary Hungarians (c. 10 million),

The population of the European Union, with some five hundred million residents, accounts for two thirds of the European population.

Both Spain and the United Kingdom are special cases, in that the designation of nationalitySpanish and British, may controversially take ethnic aspects, subsuming various regional ethnic groups, see nationalisms and regionalisms of Spain and native populations of the United KingdomSwitzerland is a similar case, but the linguistic subgroups of the Swiss are discussed in terms of both ethnicity and language affiliations.

Of the total population of Europe of some 740 million (as of 2010), close to 90% (or some 650 million) fall within three large branches of Indo-European languages, these being;

Three stand-alone Indo-European languages do not fall within larger sub-groups and are not closely related to those larger language families;

In addition, there are also smaller sub-groups within the Indo-European languages of Europe, including;

Besides the Indo-European languages, there are other language families on the European continent which are wholly unrelated to Indo-European:

The truth is that I am very happy with being Spanish ( spaniard ) and born in Spain, here there are many blonde and blue-eyed people, but they are not considered German, instead they are considered : Celtics or precells. Actually, the Germans were Celtic. Recent DNA studies claim that Spaniards (hence the uncontaminated Portuguese, it would be a long history to explain it here) the Gauls (in this the Bretons) and the British Isles in their westernmost part and to the North are the oldest settlers in Europe. Ref. Rb1, haplogroup S-116. I have nothing against the Germans further north of Europe or with the Slavs (Russia, etc), I don’t really have anything against anyone because they are of a certain race or origin (but each in their home or home without disturbing the neighbor). That has been the great mistake of the Westerners; fall into wars between brothers. <–

You should be happy about being Spanish and with your history and country.

I didn’t make this post as an attack on others, I just want to share information.
I don’t support rewriting of history, no matter if it’s done be anti-Whites or Nationalists. A lot of people seems to be LARPing about Hitler and the Third Reich in a dishonest way.

I agree, “each in their home or home without disturbing the neighbor”.

We are less than 5 million Danish people and about 950.000 immigrants. Immigration from inside and outside Europe is a threat to us.

Viking, I should express that 𝐀𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐦 is not compatible with 𝕻𝖆𝖓-𝕲𝖊𝖗𝖒𝖆𝖓𝖎𝖘𝖒! I have said before and I will say it again, Americans are overtly Anglo-centric even those of once German ancestry, the Western Anglo-sphere has also been very envious of German achievement to no surprise it was England & America that destroyed so much of Germany, one can say they were unknowing pawns of Zionism it doesn’t change the fact that they did, the scars of which are still present today.

    Without having read Wikipedia …

𝕹𝖔𝖗𝖙𝖍 𝕲𝖊𝖗𝖒𝖆𝖓𝖎𝖈: Scandinavia (Denmark, Norway, Sweden) + The Scandinavian Belt Islands (Svalbard, Iceland, Faroes), Dutch/Frisian & The very Northern states of Germany adjacent to Denmark would be more broadly Nordic even-though the Maternal lines of both Iceland & The Faroe Islands have considerable Celtic admixture mainly extracted from Scotland & Ireland by Danes during the great expansion into the North Atlantic.

Present day Austria & the German state of Bavaria was once long ago Noricum the old Celtic Homeland, Ireland & Scotland were simply the last bastions of tribal Celtic settlement.

𝕾𝖔𝖚𝖙𝖍 𝕲𝖊𝖗𝖒𝖆𝖓𝖎𝖈: Central & Southern Germany, Belgium, Eastern France, Luxembourg, Austria, Lichtenstein, Switzerland & Northern Italy. The primary difference between North and South Germanic lands is of course is the predominance of Celtic influence vs absence of. For instance many Alpine traditions are leftover of former Celtic cultural practice considering that Central Europe was once completely Celtic before Germanic tribes traveling Southbound from the Jutland peninsula (Daneland) settled central Europe.

Celts in turn were assimilated into Germanic tribes of who would later confederate into earliest Central European kingdoms, whilst the remaining Celts fled NW to the British isles prior to the Saxon (Germanic) settlement there are also Celts which moved out of Europe within varying time periods.

This is where the term 𝐀𝐫𝐲𝐚𝐧 in lieu with 𝕹𝖔𝖗𝖉𝖎𝖈 would be factually incorrect and more akin to misleading “Political Institutional Artifice” of times past hence why I no longer exercise said jargon. Aryans were an Eastward bound group of Celts (perhaps with minor Germanic admixture) these Celts later completely assimilated themselves with various Asiatic peoples (North Indian, NW Chinese, Mongolic etc.) thereby resulting in an entirely different distinction (No longer European), some might know these eastbound settlers by a more well known name: 𝐒𝐜𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐚𝐧 or 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐧 who had more predominant Reddish hair & Green eyes.

Contrary to what some people imply the Scythians were not wiped by force, they willingly inter-married with said Asiatic peoples until gradually European features vanished or blurred such in the case of Slavs. I again stress that Scythians willingly embraced Mongolic peoples as it is glaringly self evident within excavation of late Bronze Age Age Scythian burial mounds up till Early Iron Age 𝐗𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐧𝐮 burial sites (Present day Mongolia). Scythians are also labeled Proto-Slavic & Proto-Mongolic by many scholars but that is an entirely different and exceedingly more complicated tangential “can of worms” I will not address here.

Some would argue that Celts are Nordic too, objectively speaking the answer is more complex than a simple yes or no, Celts are their own distinction separate from Germanic, yet many present day living Celtic people share a dual-heritage with those of Germanic stock one which cannot be ignored nor removed.

Geographically speaking the British isles (Britannia/Albion whatever you want to call it) would be Nordic insofar to latitude, in addition prior to the end of the last Glacial maximum 18K years ago the isles were connected to Jutland via the Doggerland land bridge which would later submerge becoming the bottom of the Northsea leaving a peninsula in it’s wake (Present day Denmark).

Scots also have considerable Danish admixture which would be self evident since Danes kept Thralls during Viking period and much interbreeding occurred.

On a personal level I much prefer 𝕻𝖆𝖓-𝕲𝖊𝖗𝖒𝖆𝖓𝖎𝖘𝖒 over 𝕹𝖔𝖗𝖉𝖎𝖈𝖎𝖘𝖒 mainly for the fact that some Nordicists in the past have made incorrect statements which were then labeled absolute truth and many bad faith actors (Mainly American Idiots) latch themselves upon such misinformation. The Germanic heritage corridor is vast encompassing Northern & Central Europe, binding various tribes into a singular combined family. Therefore I make the distinction between the two, even-though some might claim that they’re one the same.

The Americas may have German settlement corridors but it is entirely superficial and lacks any depth or true connection to Europe.

Concluding what does it mean to be European but Germanic? In the latter case Celto-Germanic. I know that is a sensitive hot button topic for certain people but it is simply true (Even the Romans owe half of their genetics & cultural heritage to Noricum).

“𝐀𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐦 is not compatible with 𝕻𝖆𝖓-𝕲𝖊𝖗𝖒𝖆𝖓𝖎𝖘𝖒!”

I agree, WWI and WWII put a pause on Germanic Unity.

      “𝕹𝖔𝖗𝖙𝖍 𝕲𝖊𝖗𝖒𝖆𝖓𝖎𝖈” and “𝕾𝖔𝖚𝖙𝖍 𝕲𝖊𝖗𝖒𝖆𝖓𝖎𝖈”

That factual information might not have been so complete or even existed, at the time of Hitler and before. Which might explain why they sometimes was wrong, in a LARPy way. I never use the term 𝐀𝐫𝐲𝐚𝐧 for the same reason. I believe, that Germanic is the best word for North and West Europeans. It’s not perfect, but the best we got. Brits and Irish are not as Germanic, but they speak Germanic (English) and have a similar culture to Danes, Germans, etc. compared to other non-Germanic Europeans.

Nordic to me, is geographic. Scandinavia, plus Iceland and Finland. Nordic people, North Germanic, Vikings and Scandinavian people are more or less the same. Finland is our (non-Germanic) people, mostly from geographic, geopolitics, culture and history.

Germanic is factual based and more or less clean cut (who is Germanic and not). 𝐀𝐫𝐲𝐚𝐧 has a number of meanings and the term “Aryan race” became more and more what we know as Germanic, and then things started to make much more sense.
I guess, that Hitler came to the same conclusion. Like re-naming Berlin Germania, Division Germania, etc..

This post is just a bit of information, that hopefully will connect with some of the other post I linked to and make a broader picture. Including what you wrote, in your comment.

A nother side to this post is clarifying what especially Hitler and NSDAP really ment, and for example The Immigration Act of 1924 in USA.
As you know: Some people want to rewriting history to harm Germanic people and others want to rewrite history to include them selves as pan-Europeans in regards to WWII Germany or who made America “great”.

You understand that Brits are not German, they’re a cut lower than us, Saxons were Germanic once long ago … Anglo-Saxon is something else entirely.

How many times did the Brits stab us in the back? Americans are even worse. Anglo-Americans used to lynch German Americans for not Anglicizing to the American way. Did you know German settlers ceased speaking German in a single generation? German studies in America were made illegal come 1901 the German Spitze Breed of dog was even renamed “American Eskimo Dog”.

The British Empire is also indirectly responsible for importing multiculturalism & globalism into the West/Euro collective culture, now that the B.E. is less relevant the “United Semites of America” has seized the reigns.

Americans are a culture of their own, they’re not German and need to cease pretending like they belong, unfortunately what they put faith in is the exact thing which degrades Europe today “Shiny worthless Plastic things” and idiotic slogans, the American dream is not the same as European destiny.

Sadly, if America has to nuke Europe if it meant to ensure it’s own survival they would.

Oh yes, I know. I usually limited those views to WWII post. Like terror bombing, England’s attack on Denmark and a few memes.
I sometimes I think “The Eternal Anglo” is a lost cause, how can we forgive all their back stabbing.
      Zog-puppet number 1
I usually just keep it to my self.

Also … Wikepedia is literally the worst source you could possibly cite regarding this topic.

Nordicism as it is coined here wasn’t even created by Nordic people true racial studies were done by German Eugenics scientists under from the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute all of who are conveniently omitted from this wiki page.

After the war notable German racial scientists such as 𝕱𝖗𝖎𝖙𝖟 𝕷𝖊𝖓𝖟 & 𝕬𝖑𝖋𝖗𝖊𝖉 𝕻𝖑𝖔𝖊𝖙𝖟 were black-listed, of which I should note the work of these men have nothing to do with Nordicism as the MSM coins and Nordicism as coined by Wikipedia is completely artificial and laughably American.

Pan-Germanism was slandered and given the misnomer Nordicism therefore people like racially disconnected idiot American LARPERs latch upon it like flies to a turd – essentially blonde hair & blue eyes – good – brown hair and brown eyes – bad.

This was not the frame of mind of great German men not even under the Third Reich, certainly there were fringe elements i.e. particular members of the Waffen S.S. who had a fetish for Blonde Slavs, the same people who secretly began to doubt A.H. but it was not the general consensus within the N.S.D.A.P. inner circle.

You are absolutely right, Wikipedia is not the best source.

Yes, taste, bias, etc. has its effect on people. Blonde hair & blue eyes is more rare and then you have the ‘western beauty standards’ that favor those traits, Viking history, etc.. Nordicism seems like LARPING in regards to other Germanic people.

Blonde Hair & Blue Eyes are rare, precious and should be preserved. However, in the pursuit of preserving said features such should not be the lynch-pin of all European greatness.

Nordicism was created by Americans with an out of touch German fetish attempting to latch upon something to validate their place as part of Europe solely within superficial prerequisites.

Trust me, you are a Dane and fortunate to be in Europe. I am guessing you never fraternized with Americans outside of the internet, because the moment you do I guarantee you disappointment is the only thing you will feel.

The American W.N. doesn’t even recognize Denmark on the map, when I was young the average “White American” detested that I identified as German 1st, American never, it left a lasting impression on me.

All of a sudden 2015 and every White American becomes a “German Try-hard” it is simply cringe-worthy. Just as you don’t like Pseudo-European Slavs I dislike “wannabe” European Americans, because there is not an ounce of European-ness to them. It should come to no surprise why I engaged a Danish/German woman from outside the U.S. to be my wife and not some “White American” woman.

White-American is most artificial and vague term, 97% of Ashkenazi Jews in the U.S. register as “White American” just so you know.

There is only European of which is Germanic … also Celtic and to a much more minor extent Italic all else is irrelevant.

Yes, I have not had much contact with Americans. I don’t want to believe, that Americans are as retarted as they might look on TV and else where.

Yes, watch a podcast and they can name England, Germany, France, Italy and maybe one or two more. Also saying: over there in England and Europe. But then again they have 50 states to remember, I can maybe name 25-30 by memory (hopefully most of them).

“The United States Census Bureau defines white people as those “having origins in any of the original peoples of Europe, the Middle East or North Africa.””

Germanic is important in this context, because it can unite North and West Europeans even if they are mixed. The same goes for Australia, New Zealand, etc.. Germanic people made all of those countries “great”.

What you described might be worse in USA, but it is a general problem here, too.
The same goes for: “The Americas may have German settlement corridors but it is entirely superficial and lacks any depth or true connection to Europe.”
Cultural marxisme, anti-White(ism), counterculture, degeneracy, etc. is a general problem.

If you are of the European or Aryan diaspora – whether a Yazidi, a Persian, or a Dane – you are my people. The obtuse and willfully ignorant abound everywhere. German is not a place – it’s a people. Briton is not a place – it’s a people. Scandinavia is not a place – it’s a people. Wherever those people go – they take their race, which is the one truth in the world, with them. Most just want to be left alone. If forced segregation is wrong, surely forced association also is.

The Nordic Ideal – A Result of the Anthropological View of History

If degeneration (that is, a heavy increase in inferior hereditary tendencies) and denordization (that is, disappearance of the Nordic blood) have brought the Asiatic and south European peoples of Indo-European speech to their decay and fall, and if degeneration and denordization now, in turn, threaten the decay and fall of the peoples of Germanic speech, then the task is clearly to be seen which must be taken in hand, if there is still enough power of judgment left.
